I am running way behind on my posting, work and everything else that needs to be done.
This was an active storm chase day, though perhaps a disappointing one. We chased a Moderate Risk, but as soon as I woke up, I knew things were going to be difficult. Cloudy skies, lingering convection from the day before, and so on, made for difficult chasing.
We started by traveling north from Norfolk, NE, to Yankton, SD, where we had lunch (trunk pizza) and then further north along the SD/MN border. This chase does mark my first time chasing Minnesota.
A clustered line of storms fired and we watched the inflow region, but things couldn’t stay organized.
After that we headed east to stay out of the precipitation, and then turned south somewhere in western Minnesota. With that, we punted for the day, opting instead to have dinner in Sioux City, IA, and turning our attention towards the “Day 2” outlook.
We stopped at the Super 8 in Omaha, NE, and watched the lightning show, knowing we’d get off to an early start towards the Texas Panhandle the following day.
This was our route:
I did not collect my APRS pings in time to separate them out.
Thank you for reading my post.
