Satellite Image of the Week 2019 #15

This week’s Satellite Image of the Week is of yet another mid-latitude cyclone. In this case, the center of circulation is over northeastern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

There is a nice, sweeping cold front that runs all the way down to Gulf Coast of Texas. I also like that the clouds seem to break over Lake Michigan. I’m not sure why that is, or whether the lake itself factors into this reason. It may be coincidental, or it could be that the lake is cold and there is already sinking air in this region.

Thank you for reading this post!
