El Paso, TX, to ???

We arrived in El Paso, TX, early this morning and are now planning our next move.  We had originally intended to go to Amarillo, TX, last night, and then to Memphis, TN, tonight, to spend several days in the south doing some rock hunting.  Instead, this strong cold front has left most of the nation in a messy state, as shown by the Watches and Warning Map below:

So, now we can either drive to Dallas, 9 ish hours away, or Houston, 10 ish hours away.  Either way will be spent fighting the strong winds, but avoiding the snow and ice.

We will have a discussion about this in a bit.  My gut feeling is that we are going to Dallas, as all of us hate driving I-10 through Texas.  Plus, there’s a chance I can catch up to an old friend of mine in the Dallas area.

In terms of the weather here in El Paso, the conditions are quite gusty.  Our hotel is near the airport, and we can’t hear the jets taking off and landing unless there is a lull in the winds.  The horizon is black, as if a storm was approaching, but it is really blowing dust.

Thank you for reading my post.
