Satellite Image of the Week: #17

This week’s satellite image was taken this morning over the Mid-Atlantic region. Notice the mountain wave pattern in the clouds as they pass over the Appalachian Mountains. One could think of this pattern as ringing in a system, where the laminar flow of the air is disturbed by the mountains and then bobs up and down in an underdamped fashion.
