SPC has issued a slight risk and 2% tornado ring for western NM. I am watching it closely, though I did pull an all nighter last night…I am only about three hours from the threat are though, so a brief nap and I might be ready to go.
So far, I’m not impressed with the setup. The comp map shows no shear, no dryline, and no frontal boundaries in the risk area. There is a small pocket of 500 J/kg CAPE, but that is it.
The Amarillo sounding is a bit more promising, with its forecasted 2000 J/kg CAPE.
I am tentatively watching:
1. Tucumcari, NM
2. Clovis, NM
3. Hereford, TX
